Seminar held on cyber resilience and data risk management

Muscat: A seminar on cyber resilience and data risk management was inaugurated by Davis Kallukaran, Managing Partner of Crowe Oman at the Park Inn Muscat.

Welcoming the attendees, Davis said, “Online criminal forums, had existed for many years, but today those networks are thriving in part because of the unique circumstances brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. They look more like a corporate network now. This is a real threat.”
Vivek Sripuram of Happiest minds initiating the first session on cyber resilience and the role of vulnerability management said, “Network vulnerabilities are unfortunate and inevitable. Technological advances and software development result in a continuous cycle of new vulnerabilities and weaknesses in cyberinfrastructures. This, however, doesn’t call for panic. Instead, organisations must manage their vulnerabilities as effectively as possible and boost their cyber resilience to avoid potential attacks.”

Priya Kanduri who was the lead faculty for the second session on Digital Risk Management said, “In an era of uncertainty and advanced cybersecurity threat environment, digital risk management has become an essential part of business management. Organisations need to build a robust risk protection framework that ensures sustainability and drives more business value for the organisation. Digital risk management powered by Governance, Data Security, Data Privacy and Artificial Intelligence can help the organisation streamline their business processes, improve efficiency, gain better insights from data and also identify & remediate threats quickly.”

Jose Chacko, Partner Forensic and technology at Crowe Oman felicitated the speakers and proposed the vote of thanks. Earlier Afrah Al Ghafri, initiated the proceedings and Muzeebur Rehman, Cyber security consultant at Crowe moderated the discussions. The seminar was attended by IT departmental heads of major corporates and government institutions
